Chocolate Delight: Bathroom Decor Edition

All who know me know that I have a slight obsession with all things home decor. One thing I enjoy quite a bit is changing out my bathroom decor each season. Yes, you read it right, I do it seasonably. After all, I couldn’t very well have a white eyelet shower curtain hanging up in the middle of January.

I thought I’d give you all a glimpse of the theme for Fall. I opted for chocolate and rust…do those colors not screen autumn? Excuse the wobbliness of the video. I didn’t initially plan to post it on my blog. but I figured, why not. Be sure to leave a comment letting me know what you think of the theme.

One of the reasons I have that whole jewelry organization problem is because I can’t seem to stop purchasing things. I honestly can’t get enough of necklaces, bracelets and rings. You won’t see me post earrings often because I’m pretty plain Jane in that department – I’ve worn diamond studs for nearly 10 years. Occasionally, I’ll wear something different when going out, but my studs are pretty much my staple.

I only recently – say three weeks ago – discovered JC Penney. I honestly have never even considered shopping there, so imagine my surprise when I found a few great items. I later had a conversation with the BFF to realize that I’d indeed been “sleeping on” JCP because she already knew that they carried some great finds. I was prompted to go after visiting someone’s fashion blog (I should have bookmarked the blog because I loved it) who featured a piece they’d purchased. I picked up three pieces over the weekend that were all pretty well priced.

Bag Attitude: Marc Ecko Charisma Rounded Hobo

I’ve recently taken a liking to discount retailers like TJ Maxx and Ross. I’ve found a few bags as of late for TJ Maxx and Ross is great for home/kitchen items. I purchased the Marc Ecko Charisma Rounded Hobo Friday evening. I actually entered the store with one thing in mind and came out with the bag instead…that seems to happen to me alot for whatever reason. As I didn’t know the style name, I Goodle’d Maro Ekco and to my surprise, I found the exact bag on Macy’s site – for $79.00. Learning that I saved $40 makes me happy!

The bag features a removable shoulder strap (I kept the strap on as I figured it added another element of interest) =, whipstitch and stud detailing; double E tag and two organization pockets. The color is actually closer to a tomato red than what the pictures illustrate.

I went to an artist showcase and I initially planned to go for an eclectic, funky fresh vibe. I found out it was another one of those “grown and sexy” events, so I ended up changing my wardrobe completely. Sidebar: Can we please be more creative and use terms other than grown and sexy? It’s so 2000 and late.

I went for an all black everything look and opted for all black and gold jewelry. I already had a few of these gems, but I picked up the watch, right hand ring and cuff bracelet from one of my favorite places…Target no less. I ended up taking the watch back the next day because the clasp never worked (I had to rig it for that night) and besides, I really want a nice, more expensive version. Bag Attitude: Steve Madden Tote

Over the last few weeks, I’ve gained a new appreciate for mega discount retailers like TJ Maxx. Though I’m still convinced that those in the Northeast get the best merchandise, I give the store located near my house a solid “B”. I’d been in search of a new bag for the last several weeks and hadn’t really found anything that “moved me”. I wasn’t necessary looking for an expensive or certain bag, I just wanted something new. Yesterday, I found the Steve Madden Tote and I could not leave it in the store.

The bag is a coral hue and has brass studding along its front pleats. It has two handles, storage compartments on the interior and a zip closure. I’m looking forward to adding this burst of color to my Spring bag line up. Have you purchased any new handbags that you just can wait to carry? Sidebar: I totally did not realize that my tights and polish matched. Funny and so not on purpose, but I digress. Yes, I’m in love with gray, so how could I pass up this second find at the Nine West Outlet store? The store had a buy one, get on 50% off sale so I made out like a bandit. Two pair for about $85 with these were that much alone.

The suede and leather peep toe pumps feature a 4″ heel and ruching detail at the toe. I plan to get one of two good wears out of them as soon as it gets warm enough. For the first time ever, I went to a Nine West outlet store this past weekend. I’ve never been into outlet shopping and can probably count the times I’ve been to an outlet mall one hand, but I must say that I was pleased with my purchases. I my mind, items in outlines were from seasons upon seasons ago, but this was not the case…at least for Nine West. Majority of shoes were from last season because I saw quite a few pair that I have in my closet. I’m not so much caught up on whether a shoe came out this year or last year because after all, don’t we wear shoes we bought last Summer anyway? Think about it.

The Nine West Aromao Sandals are available in black, chocolate and the cognac-like color that I purchased. I forgot to look on the box because the name of the color was kind of different. Either way, I look forward to wearing these 4″ heels this Summer. My favorite part about them is the three strap buckles. I do so much shopping online that I forget what the experience is like to try on shoes in-store. I thinking I’ve been depriving myself. There’s no better feeling than instantly slipping on a pair of shoes and deciding right then and there whether or not they’re going home with you. I looked at the Nine West Sacha Sandals a few times online but wasn’t quite ready to purchase them…that was until I tried them on in-store.

By far, the 3″ sandals are quite possibly one of the most comfortable heels I’ve tried on in a minute. I hadn’t purchased anything less than 4″ in quite some time – with the exception of flat boots for the winter – so the shorter heel came as a pleasant surprise.

The Private Stash: New Directions Mixed Media Necklace

If you follow me onTwitter, you know that I’ve been hitting up different Belk department stores left and right because they have their annual end of year clearance going on now. It’s virtually impossible for me to resist a great sale so I thought I’d share some of my purchases. One of my purchases from last night was the New Directions Mixed Media Necklace.

I was immediately draw to it because of the it has two elements I love: mixed media and lucite. Lucite, which is basically “fancy plastic” is making a comeback in a strong way. If you ask me, it never really went anywhere, but we’re beginning to see it more and more again. It has the adjustable clasp which I love and I can pair it with just about anything I choose.

Sidebar: My apologies for the picture quality. I need to charge the batteries in my digital camera, which takes all of one hour, but I can’t seem to find the time to do so. I snapped this with my BB in my office under awful florescent lights.

When I purchased the Nine West Keysor Sandals last week, I didn’t realize how stripper-inspired they were. Perhaps if I’d paid more attention to the stock photo rather than simply trying to use the birthday coupon code before it expired, I wouldn’t have been as surprised when I received them yesterday. Granted, I like them as they look pretty sexy on, they aren’t exactly what I expected. I know I’ll get use out of them, especially considering Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but they won’t be a staple black sandal I wear this Spring/Summer.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I spent the last week making purchases of a dress and accessories for a wedding I attended Saturday. After searching a few sites for the perfect black clutch, I decided to scope out the Belk near my house because they’re always having a sale and I was sure to find something. I actually didn’t make it until the store until Saturday afternoon (the wedding was at 5 pm), but I didn’t walk away empty handed. As my dress had a black lace overlay, I wanted a clutch that was simple and chic and I found just that. Because of the dresses neckline, I opted for danging earring rather than a necklace and the entire look turned out great. *pats self on back*

A few months ago, I ordered the Go Jane Studded Red Pumps because they couldn’t seem to stop calling my name. At only $23.60, how could I resist. I mean, really! Sitting on a 4 1/2″ heel and the studs adds extra flavor I love them. Unfortunately, they’re too big and since I don’t want to take a tumble while walking, these babies are going back.

I picked up the Vaneli Pouch Sandals from Marmi while in Houston for the holidays.Well my mom got them for me and deemed them a birthday gift. Over the last few weeks, I haven’t been able to get of animal print. They have a hair calf and feature an uber comfortable 3 1/2″ heel. These will come in handy for a few events I have coming up. Until then, I’ll just wear them around the house. *thinking* I can’t be the only one who does that?

Shiny Things: Kim Rogers Blue Stone Hoop Earrings

I picked out these hoops along with a few other pieces shortly before Christmas. As my mom has a genuine love for gift wrapping, under the tree they went. As I’ve mentioned from time to time, I typically wear studs. Every once and while, I like to mix things up and give myself a different look. In this case, it’s all about hoops.

I typically would never be caught wearing anything from Coldwater Creek, not that anything’s wrong with the store, it’s just a little too mature for me. While we were out shopping – yes, as a family which can be somewhat annoying, yet beneficial – I discovered a few small things that I had to slide on the counter while the sales lady was ringing everything up.

The Coldwater Creek Mixed Media Knotted Scarf is available in red, majestic purple and true cobalt. Since red isn’t really my color and I already have a purple infinity scarf, I decided on the blue. Smart choice if I do say so myself. The store is having an awesome 50% off storewide sale until Friday so we got it at a great deal.

I shoe shop in a variety of stores and every blue moon I go to my local The Shoe Dept. Majority of times, I don’t find anything, but Monday I purchased the Dollhouse Harlot Pumps. The 4″ almond toes pumps are great for work. I saw them twice before, but each time, they were regularly priced. Though $40 won’t dent the wallet, I held out and got an even better deal. Bag Attitude: Nila Anthony Brick Lane Bag

Regardless of how many handbags are in my closet, I always manage to find a need to purchase just one more. Earlier this week, I received my Mod Cloth shipment. One of the items in my order was the Nila Anthony Brick Lane Bag. I figured the bright green hue would be great for summer, plus it was on sale for $23.99 from it’s original $60 price tag. There was just no way I was going to pass up on ordering it.

The pictures doesn’t do this bag a bit of justice because it is uber cute. So much so that I can’t wait for the clouds to part and the cold weather to go away so that I can use it. There must have been more people that felt the same way I did because although the bag is stil on sale, the price has increased. Go figure.

Fashionably Frugal: Avenue Two-Tone Watch

I’m pretty into accessories. Bracelets, necklaces and yes, watches. Ironically, I love large statement pieces, but I am SUCH a stud girl. I’m not into anything dangly or otherwise non-stud. Now watches, I typically buy a new one every year or two. I space it out because they’re usually pretty pricey and I don’t get over them as quickly. My current arm candy – an Emporio Armani timepiece.

I’ve been dying to find a large face masculine-looking watch. They’re so chic, look great and are a little unexpected. I continued my marathon shopping Saturday (yes, I hit the stores Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and came across the Avenue Two-Tone Watch. It was ridiculously affordable and exactly what I was looking for, so i figured, why not.

I Am Thankful For Thomas Hancock (You Know, The Guy Who Invented Elastic)

I was going back and forth as usual trying to decided on what to wear today. I brought enough clothes to the parents house to give everyone a minimum of five wardrobe changes. I don’t think that’s too much, do you? I’m not one of those people who’s an absolute glutton and shoves enough food down my mouth to get me through Black Friday. BUT considering the fact that there’s going to be so much great food from which to choose, I can’t very well put on jeans that will cut into my sides halfway through the meal either.

I’ve narrowed it to two options: a faux wrap dress with black textured tights and black suede flat boots or a black jogging suit. Before you go jumping to conclusions, the jogging suit is one of the nice ones – for the love, it’s not velour or Juicy Couture – it’s a knit sweater material. Both are super comfy and of course stylish options. I’ll probably opt for the dress and change into the the jogging suit when I feel the laziness ensue. Besides, I’ll have to stretch out on the floor in the family room this evening to go through all of the sales papers and devise my plan for tomorrow anyway.

With the holiday season upon us, there’s lots of travel ahead. The older I’ve gotten, I’ve become better at not leaving things at home or the places to where I’ve traveled. I’m sure you all are like me and have your must-have items that you can’t leave at home. As I prepare to head out of town, there are always a few things I keep in tow.

I can’t live without my iPod, magazines (Lucky, Glamour, Elle and Allure), Huggies baby wipes (I have a thing about touching germy things) and my green gel eye mask.

I figure you can never have too many t-shirts. Let me rephrase that, you can never have too many adorably cute and feminine t-shirts. There are too many options out there for any of you to still be walking around in those free shirts you got freshman year of college when you signed up for all of those credit cards. I always find myself needing something to throw on to run to Target or the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, so I purchased The Mo Tee from Mod Cloth today to add to my stash. I purchased a gray hoodie about two weeks ago that should compliment it nicely.

Almost Doesn’t Count: Nine West Idina Booties

I’ve been in pursuit of gray booties for several weeks and thought I was finally able to end my search. Majority of my shoes are Nine West for a two reasons: it’s a super affordable label and they carry larger sizes because yes, I do have big feet. *shrugs*

There were a few styles that I was going back and forth between and decided on the Nine West Idina Booties. Though the color didn’t look exactly gray on screen, I just wrote it off to the resolution of my monitor. Nevertheless, I should have gone with my first instinct. They arrived a few days ago and while I like the style alot and the shorter 3 1/2″ heel, the color is so not even gray. I’m not sure whose job it was to either A) select materials or B) write color descriptions, but either way, it looks like I’m back to the drawing board. Fortunately, they’re not a total fail because I still like them,I just won’t be able to pair the booties with gray. :/
