I was thumbing through one of my fashion magazines over the weekend (I can’t remember which one because I subscribe to quite a few including Lucky, Allure and Glamour), and ran across a list of some of the year’s “best” fragrances. I recently learned that this “best in show” idea is much larger than I initially realized. Every year, The Fragrance Foundation, celebrates the FiFi Awards which are essentially the “Oscars” of the fragrance world. Click here to learn more about the awards.

I’ve always loved really clean fragrances. Case in point, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue was a staple in my collection for years. While I love the oh-so-clean-like-I-just-stepped-out-of-the-shower smell, I’ve come to realize that men really, I mean really, seem to be into sweeter fragrances. Could it be the pheromones? I was gifted two fragrances recently and instantly fell for both, one of which is Lola Marc Jacobs Eau de Parfum Spray. It has a warm floral fragrance that’s really flirty. I love it even more because of its beautiful bottle.

Last night as I watched my favorite-older-cousin-in-my-head Wendy Williams, she gave the entire audience a bottle of Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash. I’ve been a Caress fan for years and keep a bottle of Tahitian Renewal stashed in my bathroom, but I hadn’t come across the Evenly Gorgeous. In fact, I haven’t even seen – or don’t remember seeing – it in my neighborhood Target and I spend lots of time on the soap/body wash isle. I like to have an assortment. I know that I’m super late as my web search indicates that it’s been on shelves for nearly a year. Go figure. In any case, I’ll be buying a bottle over the weekend. I’m eager to get a wiff of the burnt brown sugar. *thinking* That’s got to smell good.
Buy a small basket and add a loofah and eye mask and you have a great gift.

The next addition to the men’s cologne wish list is Hugo Boss Engerise. This cologne came out in 2005, but did not receive a lot of mainstream attention. Usually these are the best colognes because not that many people are wearing them. Hugo Boss Energize is definitely for an edgy, yet distinguished gentlemen who is about his business with a enormous ego. If you don’t possess these characteristics, this cologne will make up for your lack. The aroma gives off a confidence that make women want to test the ride in your stride. Stay on her mind morning, noon, and night with this one!
It”s a great combination of mandarin, kumquat and cardamom as the primary aromas, with amyris wood and coriander leaf undertones.
We all know the old saying, “put of sight, out of mind.” It’s important, especially if you’re in a long distance relationship, to stay on your significant other’s mind. One of the best ways to achieve this is through cologne. When your lady gets a whiff of your scent that’s left behind on sheets, in her car or on her clothes, she’ll smile as she remembers happy thoughts of you (even though she may have just thrown a brush at you an hour earlier). Even if she smells your cologne on another guy in passing, it will remind her of you.
Do not underestimate the power of cologne. I’ve been wearing cologne since the age of 3. In fact, my pre-school teacher recently told my mother that she still remembers me smelling great, which is a long time to stay on someone’s mind. If you wear it, continue to wear it. If you don’t wear it, start. Several new fragrances have been released just in time for the holidays. One of my favorites is L`Amoureux 6 by Dolce & Gabbana Eau De Toilette.
