The Music Life tee is what I planned to wear to the artist showcase. I picked it up for $16.99 from one of those stores like Rainbow or something when I’m looking for one-time wear items for a specific event. Stylista Sidebar: I typically frequent these types of stores once or twice a year, but I’ll never look down upon anyone who shops there. You can find cute things, but the key is to mix and match PIECES with nicer items in your wardrobe. Never…and I do mean NEVER dress head to toe from any place that limits the number of items (and counts them no less) before entering the fitting room.

*runs in pumping fists* I’m baaaccccck. I told you all that life has been throwing me project after project so I’ve been staying incredibly busy as of late, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. In the midst of everything that’s been going on, I haven’t been able to put 100% into my blog lately and I’ve got to do better…no excuses.

Last night, I decided to do what I’d been putting off for the last few weeks…purchasing a new swimsuit. Let’s be honest, how many of us really like to try on swimsuits, under the retched blinking florescent lights in fitting rooms. I swallowed my pride, sucked in my stomach and just went full throttle.I’ll probably purchase one or two more, but I needed something to at least get me started. I went with a black retro suit that has ruched in the front that is INCREDIBLY flattering. The straps cross in the back for a little extra umph. May I just go on record and say this model does absolutely nothing for the suit. *sighs*

It would be great paired with jeans or shorts for the weekend. The tee features side rouching so if you’re not particular fond of it, steer clear. I have a love/hate relationship with rouching, but I’ve learned that you always have to try things on.

Overrated and Underwhelmed: Jean Paul Gaultier for Target

Even though I made two trips to Target over the weekend, I stayed focus on the items in which I was there to purchase. This meant that I never made it over to the apparel section to check out the latest installment of the designer series, Jean Paul Gaultier for Target. This morning, I spent some time checking out the collection online and let’s just say I’d be lying if I said I weren’t completley disappointed by the collection.

It includes lots of bathing suiting, tops, dresses and even a few jackets are sprinkled in but with each click of my mouse, I found myself slipping into a deeper trance. Can someone please come splash water in my face to wake me from this boredom-induced coma? With the exception of maybe two tops and the red and brown moto jacket, the 52-piece collection isn’t much to write about. I’m curious to see how many people will say they absolutely love the collection just because its Jean Paul Gaultier. Target has had hit after hit with their designer series and Go International campaign so I really expected much more. The designers aren’t too inspiring and quite honestly, I’ve seen them all before.

Bag Attitude: Juicy Couture Generation Y Juicy Studded Canvas Tote

I’m one of those people who believes that certain brands come with expiration dates. By expiration dates, I mean age limits. There’s nothing worse that seeing someone wearing something appropriate for a 12 year old and they’re 25.

It’s not my intent to offend anyone who likes the brand, but I feel that way about Juicy Couture. I think the brand is perfectly suited for anyone under the age of 18 – actually, I’ve say 21, but beyond that…not so much. However, when I stumbled upon the Juicy Couture Generation Y Juicy Studded Canvas Tote, I almost considered purchasing it for gym use. I figured it would be large enough to tote around my towel, water bottle, jacket and whatever else I decide to throw in my bag.

The canvas vote features double shoulder straps, a top concealed magnetic snap closure with an interior zip pouch and cell phone pocket. What do you think? Is it gym worthy? Would you even pay that much for a gym bag? Be sure to comment and let me know what you think.

It’s rare to find a sleeveless cardigan with the button strapped accents and finished hem, which happens to make it perfect for a Spring day shopping with the girls. So I’m having mixed emotions when it comes to the L.A.M.B Terry Cropped Pants. At first glance I like them, but as I keep looking at them, my appreciation wears thin…very thin. You may have first become acquainted with Dimepiece when Cassie became the face for the brand in Fall 2009 (the brand is relatively new having launched in 2007). I was immediately drawn to the label as they have plenty of cute tees from which to choose. When I first saw the line’s lookbook, I instantly fell in love with the Dimepiece Fish Net Hoodie. I like it because it’s pretty different from what you would pick up and say, Old Navy. Sidebar: Am I the only one who immediately thinks of Old Navy when I think of hoodies?

On A Cold Winter’s Night: Rachel Rachel Roy Multi Colored Scarf

As soon as I caught my first glimpse at the Rachel Rachel Roy collection earlier this year, I instantly fell in love. I’m typically not into tops with jewelry attached, but Rachel Rachel Roy Copper Chain Tank is pretty appealing. It’s the kind of top that would be great to thrown on when you’re headed to an early evening dinner. It’s not too flashy – I hate seeing people dressed really club-ish at 6 in the evening – but it makes a statement. This is a great update to an otherwise pretty ordinary tank. I’ve wanted a pair of fingerless gloves for months, but I hadn’t come across a less than cheesy pair until now. I love the fingerless leather driving gloves, but since I won’t be appearing in any rap videos anytime soon, it’s not the best look for me. The leather options are a lot less practical and a lot more trendy (not that I think there’s anything wrong with that), but the Doubs Fingerless Glove are better suited for almost every day wear. How sweet are the straps and button detailing – they’re a bit military-inspired which is definitely on trend for the season.

I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I’d purchase a fur vest this season. After all, it’s not like the climate in which I live ever gets cold enough. The Skinny On Leggings: Akira Basic Denim Leggings & Avenue Knit Denim Zip Leggings

Love them or hate them, leggings are here to stay – for a while at least. I’ll admit that I initially thought the trend would be over in a few months, but judging from the dozens of websites I visit on a daily, leggings are a wardrobe stable. *thinking* I never would have guessed that I’d ever type that sentence.

Being the plus size fashion maven that I am, I’ve been skeptical of leggings but the more I think about it, the idea of denim leggings isn’t so bad. I can’t be the only one who hates trying to squish her jeans into boots. Even my skinnies give me problems. Leggings are also super affordable, usually costing $25 or less.

I recently became acquainted with Silhouettes so I think the Cable Tunic would be a good first purchase. I love tunics because they’re so comfortably yet polished. Throw on a long necklace and skinnies and you’re set. The Silhouettes Cable Tunic is available in chocolate and light blue so I’m having a difficult time choosing. Romp Around: Lane Bryant Button Front Convertible Jumpsuit

Can you say must-have? I needed the Lane Bryant Button Front Convertible Jumpsuit this past Saturday. My neighbor invited me over because he was having a party.The jumpsuit is so “I want to be stylish, yet playful, and I don’t want to look like I’m going to the club when it’s just a house party.” I’d pair it with a long necklaces or two – an infamous Just C move – a cuff bracelet and a crop black 3/4 length sleeve cardigan. The bottom can be cuffed and fastened with button and tab so I’d style it that way with purple suede booties that have been sitting in a box in my closet for months.

As soon as I purchase it, I’ll be sure to style it and take pictures for you all. I’m still dealing with that old pesky waiting for my new debit card to arrive issue. *sighs*

I Am Thankful For Thomas Hancock (You Know, The Guy Who Invented Elastic)

I was going back and forth as usual trying to decided on what to wear today. I brought enough clothes to the parents house to give everyone a minimum of five wardrobe changes. I don’t think that’s too much, do you? I’m not one of those people who’s an absolute glutton and shoves enough food down my mouth to get me through Black Friday. BUT considering the fact that there’s going to be so much great food from which to choose, I can’t very well put on jeans that will cut into my sides halfway through the meal either.

I’ve narrowed it to two options: a faux wrap dress with black textured tights and black suede flat boots or a black jogging suit. Before you go jumping to conclusions, the jogging suit is one of the nice ones – for the love, it’s not velour or Juicy Couture – it’s a knit sweater material. Both are super comfy and of course stylish options. I’ll probably opt for the dress and change into the the jogging suit when I feel the laziness ensue. Besides, I’ll have to stretch out on the floor in the family room this evening to go through all of the sales papers and devise my plan for tomorrow anyway.

I figure you can never have too many t-shirts. Let me rephrase that, you can never have too many adorably cute and feminine t-shirts. There are too many options out there for any of you to still be walking around in those free shirts you got freshman year of college when you signed up for all of those credit cards. I always find myself needing something to throw on to run to Target or the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, so I purchased The Mo Tee from Mod Cloth today to add to my stash. I purchased a gray hoodie about two weeks ago that should compliment it nicely.
