I wanted to take a moment and step away from the world of fashion. As you know Port-Au-Prince, Haiti was hit by a devastatingly massive earthquake yesterday. As the death toll rises, its heart wrenching to think about how much it will take for the small Caribbean nation to be rebuilt. America Red Cross estimates that some 3 million people were affected and that it would take days before the damage can be accessed.
I will leave the news reporting of this natural disaster to sources like CNN, but I couldn’t allow the day to progress without sending my prayers to all those affected, whether immediately affected or those who have family there. My prayers are with Haiti.

Now that Christmas is behind us, people have returned unwanted items and purchased a few new things, I wanted to take a moment to reflect. I’m sure plenty of people could go on and on about what they received, how much money was spent and so on. My favorite gift this year might surprise you – well some of you. It wasn’t the complete set of server ware that I’d been coveting since January. It was the Jones New York Moto Jacket or the sterling bracelet from Greece. Granted I love all of these things, but the gift that nearly brought me to tears (and I’m not a cryer) was the Children’s Art Project Snowman Dessert Plate and Mug. I know what you’re thinking, “huh, really”, but it’s the meaning behind the gift that warmed my heart. Each was hand painted by a pediatric cancer patient at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. I may not be a sneaker-wearing chick, but I’m all over men’s footwear. The hotness some labels bring to the table is stupid fresh! Supras are one of my brands but I pretty much love anything that I know I won’t see on every man’s feet. Only the Converse are official PRODUCT (RED), but if you want to make a red statement, I think any of them would be a great pick.

In support of World Aids Day, Sole Intuition is focused on all things red. I’ve never been one to wear much red as I don’t think it’s my best color (I do look pretty smokin’ in white though). For those who can, go for it! The Chinese Laundry Grace Clutch, Intuition Braided Tote and Deena & Ozzy Quilted Tote are all fashion forward options that work hurt the wallet.
For the clutch lovers, the Chinese Laundry Grace Clutch is super chic and great for nights out with the girls. Personally, I steer clear of clutches for everyday wear. As you know, today is World Aids Day. I’m sure I’ll see people wearing red ribbons, buttons or otherwise supporting the cause. Nike is the newest to partner with RED, but there are many cool ways to show support and get something in return at the same time. I love the Gap (PRODUCT) RED™ Stella T.
