Intuition PLUS Style: Torrid Black Ruffle-Front Knit Sleeveless Romper

I’ve been wild about rompers all year and couldn’t wait for the weather to warm. This is the second romper I’ve purchased thus far and I fell in love with it all over again once it arrived. It fits great and I’ll probably wear it out tomorrow night for drinks. Sidebar: I seriously need to get a new digital camera so that I can start posting pictures in outfits. I ended up gifting the one I bought on Black Friday so I’m suck with my Nikon Coolpix that I absolutely hate.

The sleeveless romper has ruffles on the pintucked front, shoulders and has a button-front closure with a Mandarin collar. It has a sash belt and is 23″ long from shoulder to elastic waist with a 5″ inseam. I think it’s adorable. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think. The Music Life tee is what I planned to wear to the artist showcase. I picked it up for $16.99 from one of those stores like Rainbow or something when I’m looking for one-time wear items for a specific event. Stylista Sidebar: I typically frequent these types of stores once or twice a year, but I’ll never look down upon anyone who shops there. You can find cute things, but the key is to mix and match PIECES with nicer items in your wardrobe. Never…and I do mean NEVER dress head to toe from any place that limits the number of items (and counts them no less) before entering the fitting room.

*runs in pumping fists* I’m baaaccccck. I told you all that life has been throwing me project after project so I’ve been staying incredibly busy as of late, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. In the midst of everything that’s been going on, I haven’t been able to put 100% into my blog lately and I’ve got to do better…no excuses.

Last night, I decided to do what I’d been putting off for the last few weeks…purchasing a new swimsuit. Let’s be honest, how many of us really like to try on swimsuits, under the retched blinking florescent lights in fitting rooms. I swallowed my pride, sucked in my stomach and just went full throttle.I’ll probably purchase one or two more, but I needed something to at least get me started. I went with a black retro suit that has ruched in the front that is INCREDIBLY flattering. The straps cross in the back for a little extra umph. May I just go on record and say this model does absolutely nothing for the suit. *sighs*

I have a love/hate relationship with rouching, but I’ve learned that you always have to try things on.

Overrated and Underwhelmed: Jean Paul Gaultier for Target

Even though I made two trips to Target over the weekend, I stayed focus on the items in which I was there to purchase. This meant that I never made it over to the apparel section to check out the latest installment of the designer series, Jean Paul Gaultier for Target. This morning, I spent some time checking out the collection online and let’s just say I’d be lying if I said I weren’t completley disappointed by the collection.

It includes lots of bathing suiting, tops, dresses and even a few jackets are sprinkled in but with each click of my mouse, I found myself slipping into a deeper trance. Can someone please come splash water in my face to wake me from this boredom-induced coma? With the exception of maybe two tops and the red and brown moto jacket, the 52-piece collection isn’t much to write about. I’m curious to see how many people will say they absolutely love the collection just because its Jean Paul Gaultier. Target has had hit after hit with their designer series and Go International campaign so I really expected much more. The designers aren’t too inspiring and quite honestly, I’ve seen them all before.

Whenever I go to Forever 21‘s website, my first stop is Twelve by Twelve – even though my measurements are Faith 21. I’m convinced that it’s the styling and photography that make me so drawn to the collection. The images really bring the clothes to life and the style team…*curtsey* great job!

The Twelve By Twelve Drop Waist Dress has a super chic drop waist with a pintucked bottom and bustier-style upper. The lined dress is trimmed with grosgrain ribbon trim, it has padded underwire cups, adjustable spaghetti straps and an invisible side zipper.

So I’m having mixed emotions when it comes to the L.A.M.B Terry Cropped Pants. At first glance I like them, but as I keep looking at them, my appreciation wears thin…very thin. Before you starting calling me a crazy bish for posting a $98 “tee”, hear me out. How likely are you to find something so stylish and chic that DOESN’T look cheap? Granted you can browse through racks at Rainbow or any one of those stores with “fashion” in the name (totally not downing anyone for shopping there because you can find great stuff that you know you’re only going to wear once), but it’s not going to look as hip and well crafted as the Guess by Marciano Nisha Slashed Tee.

I tell you one thing, you definitely can’t knock the Kardashians and they’re hustle. Bebe has launched a new line, Kardashians by bebe that includes dresses, rompers and blazers – all resaonably priced from $59 to $159.. I can see the sisters’ style (specifically Kim) all over this collection.

The Kardashians by bebe Knit Cutout Dress is one of the pieces which really stood out to me. The dress, also available in urban pink, drapes along the bias and features an oval cutout from the side. Rounded panels criss cross the front, creating a curved hem and strops just at or above the knee. Have we not seen Kim on a red carpet in something similar. Nice! You may have first become acquainted with Dimepiece when Cassie became the face for the brand in Fall 2009 (the brand is relatively new having launched in 2007). I was immediately drawn to the label as they have plenty of cute tees from which to choose. When I first saw the line’s lookbook, I instantly fell in love with the Dimepiece Fish Net Hoodie. I like it because it’s pretty different from what you would pick up and say, Old Navy. Sidebar: Am I the only one who immediately thinks of Old Navy when I think of hoodies?

Intuition PLUS Style: Asos Curve Gold Button Detail Dress

I was really into skirts in high school, then I fell out of love, then I fell in love with skirts and dresses, fell out of love again, but now I’ve come full circle in a manner of speaking. Once I found the right cut and style to best compliment my curvature, I fully immersed myself in all things dresses. I for one, was stalking the website like a mad woman every day last week – even though I knew it wasn’t set to launch until the 22nd. I can just see me wearing this on casual Friday or even out for drinks with the ladies. Its comes in smoke gray, though I wish it was also available in black. For only $19.80, I won’t complain. I know it’s not exactly lightweight jacket season, but as soon as its warms up just a little, I will be wearing the Joyrich Motorcycle Jacket. I am absolutely in love with it. I know the color has a big effect on why I’m so dreamy eyed over it, but I’ve never really see a motorcycle jacket with a hood. The hood gives it a little more edge. Let’s just say, as soon as I saw the Free People Easy Breezy Dress, I thought, “get it bish!” This confetti-themed dress is oh-so-cute for Spring. I’ve noticed the tank top-flowy bottom dresses are it for the warmer seasons. In the last few months, I seen them in more and more magazines and racks in stores.

I actually tried on an all black one a few weeks ago and I’m still kicking myself for not purchasing it. The sleeveless Free People Easy Breezy Dress features an empire waist, front pocket on the chest, stretch belt and a racer back. Love it!

Is it safe to say that I’m borderline obsessed with animal print? I don’t want to become one of those women who wears it from head to toe…at once, but I can’t seem to fight the urge to add pieces to my wardrobe one by one. The latest is the Bella Leopard Cardigan from Delias. It’s also available in a black, gray and white, but this one is more my speed. It will look great causally paired with jeans, but it would also add an unexpected element to one of those soft, dainty dresses that you’re able to wear in both Winter and Spring with the right layering.

Home For The Holidays: Origins Knit Top

Am I the only one who still cannot believe Christmas is Friday? At times, this year seemed to move at a snail’s pace, but now 2010 is upon us and I cannot wait. I’m leaving town Tuesday for Christmas so I’ve begun the tedious task of packing. There are a few obstacles I face: 1) I won’t be back home until the 1st of the new year 2) Trying to pack for 2 weeks when you know that you’re going shopping is a nightmare 3) I haven’t even figured out what I’m wearing on Christmas day. The Christmas day outfit is pretty important all things considered. Taking lots of pictures and friends stopping by in the evening are reason enough that you can’t be anything less than fashionable – or at least, that’s what I believe.

The Origins Knit Top is a great look for Christmas dinner. It’s not to over the top but you clearly have style if you chose to wear it. I’m still on the hunt for what I’ll wear. For some reason, I really want to wear electric blue. I know – good luck with that, right?

I’m typically not into tops with jewelry attached, but Rachel Rachel Roy Copper Chain Tank is pretty appealing. It’s the kind of top that would be great to thrown on when you’re headed to an early evening dinner. It’s not too flashy – I hate seeing people dressed really club-ish at 6 in the evening – but it makes a statement. This is a great update to an otherwise pretty ordinary tank. The only thing that would make it better is a more defined racerback. I just love those.

Earlier today, stylist June Ambrose (@juneambrose) posted a picture of Solange Knowles dj’ing Alicia Keys preview party from last night. The dress, which is Boxing Kitten, looked phenomenal on Solange so I immediately wanted to learn more about the label. I instantly fell head over heels for the vivid fabrics and styles of the collection.The collection includes skirts, shorts, dresses and jumpers (I really can’t get enough of jumpers these days). There’s an array of beautiful designs and the Boxing Kitten Pink Pearl Dress is one of my favorites.

The entire look is stunning. It always makes me happy to see celebrities wearing accessible style. By accessible, I mean things that majority of us could afford.

What is it with me and jumpsuits as of late? First it was the one from Lane Bryant and now the INC Plus Size Short Sleeve Button Front Belted Jumpsuit. The jumpsuit features a v neck, a sash belt and the all-important slant pockets. I can’t emphasize how important pockets are…how can you strike that” I look good without really trying hard to” pose without them. Oh, and don’t like you don’t have one of those poses…I know you do, we all do.
