As if I even need to say it for the 100th time, I am an accessories maven. I simply can’t get enough rings, bracelets and necklaces, hence the organization issues I have, but I digress. Over the weekend, I visited Charming Charlie, which is by far one of the best places to shop for incredibly affordable pieces. I got hip to Charming Charlie about four years ago while visiting Houston – the company was founded there – and was over the moon once they started expanded and made their way to Alabama. The company is actually in 15 states now and still growing so be on the lookout if there’s not one in your area.

I purchased two rings and spent exactly $25. Talk about a deal. I purchased a black and yellow dome ring ($9.97)and a gold-toned rhinestone ring ($12.97) as well. They’re both great additions to my collection and I’ve already worn my dome ring. I love them both. I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I last posted. Yes I’ve been shopping and yes I’ve found some great pieces, but I’ve grown increasing frustrated with not having a quality camera. I pretty much refuse to use my Blackberry because let’s face it, the picture quality just isn’t up to par and I’m two seconds from throwing my Nikon out of the car window while traveling 80 on I459. I’ve got to find some sort of happy medium in the interim though because not posting isn’t gong to cut it either. But I digress…

I checked out Lulu’s today and saw a piece that I pretty much have to have. The Vaudeville Vivian Necklace would be great paired with a basic tee and whatever bottom you choose. One of the reasons I have that whole jewelry organization problem is because I can’t seem to stop purchasing things. I honestly can’t get enough of necklaces, bracelets and rings. You won’t see me post earrings often because I’m pretty plain Jane in that department – I’ve worn diamond studs for nearly 10 years. Occasionally, I’ll wear something different when going out, but my studs are pretty much my staple.

I only recently – say three weeks ago – discovered JC Penney. I honestly have never even considered shopping there, so imagine my surprise when I found a few great items. I later had a conversation with the BFF to realize that I’d indeed been “sleeping on” JCP because she already knew that they carried some great finds. I was prompted to go after visiting someone’s fashion blog (I should have bookmarked the blog because I loved it) who featured a piece they’d purchased. I picked up three pieces over the weekend that were all pretty well priced.

Operation Organization: What Works For You?

On Saturday, I had a conversation with one of my tweeps (Twitter friends for those of you who still refuse to join) about how to organize accessories. I have honestly been trying to tackle this feat for years, but still don’t have a great solution.Part of the problem is that I just haven’t been ready and willing to fork over nearly $400 for one of the really big, nice jewelry armoires. Honestly, I knew my armoire was too small while I was in the store purchasing it, but it was on sale so I figured I could “make it work”. I purchased it about 3 years ago for around $50 from Target when the one I really needed, also on sale, was about $75. I get mad at myself every time I think about it. I should have just gone with what was going to work, not what was cheapest.

As you can imagine, my drawers are to capacity and I even have an overflow storage box (wicker box shown) and I still need more room.

My tweep purchased these hanging organization bags, which I’ve thought about using before, but in lies another problem: where are you going to hang multiple bags?

Going Through Changes: I Adore Shoes Coin Purse

For the past few weeks, I’d been in search of either a new wallet (mine was bursting at the seems from the ridiculous amount of change I carry) or a coin purse. I didn’t really exactly how challenging it is to find coin purses. My grandmother carried on for years but I started to think they’d become virtually extinct or I just wasn’t looking in the right place.

During one of two retail therapy sessions this past weekend, I visited one of my favorite little shops, Francesca’s Collection. I was certain I’d find one there and I did just that. They actually had quite a few different styles – from those more “organic” looking to flashy sequined ones – but as soon as I found the one with shoes, I knew it was there just for me. Plus, it was only one…and it was on clearance. It was as if it were there waiting just for me.

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you know that I adore accessories to no end. I seriously buy at least one new item per week (hence the jewelry armoire issue I have). I love bold pieces, long necklaces and I love to mix and match textures. Today, I was in a Aztec mood. I paired Erica Lyons Turquoise Dome Ring that a purchased more than five years ago with Erica Lyons Turquoise Layered Necklace that I bought about two weeks ago. I found the Merona Silver Bangles in Target about two weeks ago as well.

I purchase a large potion of my jewelry from Belk as pieces are typically well crafted and last for years. They have seasonal clearance sales and mark the accessories down ridiculously low so I rack up throughout the year.

A few months ago, I completely fell in love with owl jewelry. I kept telling myself to buy a ring, but I never got around to it until a week or so ago. To my surprise, I’m not alone in my love for this, what some would call “odd” trend. My blogging friend, @Odara112 mentioned that she’d purchased one as well. I was totally jealous when she said she found it on clearance at Target. Excusssssssse me, but how did I miss that sale?! She doesn’t know if yet, but since I’ve been unable to find it at my neighborhood Target, she’ll be sending me hers. Ha! If she refuses to give me hers, I will be checking out Lulu‘s to find one similar.

I went to an artist showcase and I initially planned to go for an eclectic, funky fresh vibe. I found out it was another one of those “grown and sexy” events, so I ended up changing my wardrobe completely. Sidebar: Can we please be more creative and use terms other than grown and sexy? It’s so 2000 and late.

I went for an all black everything look and opted for all black and gold jewelry. I already had a few of these gems, but I picked up the watch, right hand ring and cuff bracelet from one of my favorite places…Target no less. I ended up taking the watch back the next day because the clasp never worked (I had to rig it for that night) and besides, I really want a nice, more expensive version. I’m all about jewelry and two finger rings are one of my new favorite things. I went into the phase a few years ago and said I wouldn’t wear rings again until I got THE ring. I love this Amethyst Forrest Ring by Obey. It’s unlike anything I presently own. The stone look is absolutely stunning. I just wish there was a necklace similar to the ring. I’m the woman who has a million and one key chains on my keys. Don’t act like I’m the only one who read the quotes key chains and has to add it to her keys. I know its time to let that go, so I’m shopping around. I recently discovered the Juicy Couture Neon Crest Key Purse. It’s the best of both worlds for me because I also have problems with all of my change collecting at the bottom of my purse. Since, I’m into bright colors, the neon “Juicy” caught my eye. It was originally priced at $68.00 and now on sale for $51.00. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to go down a bit more, so I’ll wait a while before I purchase. When I shop – which is way too much – I try to purchase different things and the Charlotte Russe Feather and Bead Chain Necklace is different. It makes me laugh because in high school I use to wear feather earrings all time and had them in all colors. I love the mixture of beads and feathers and turquoise is in for Spring. Once upon a time, you wouldn’t catch me in anything gold (or gold-toned). I was all about all silver everything, but those days are long gone. I’m a true necklace lover, so anything I find one that would be great either layered or worn solo, I can’t resist making the purchase. Granted, because this find is so fashionably frugal, you may only get a few wears out of it, but that’s just fine.

I’m the type of woman who likes lots of little odds and ends. I like cute cases to carry things around in my purse and decorative boxes to store things under my bathroom cabinets. I’m probably one of the easiest people to shop for as I love things like personalized stationary, nice bags to transport my jewelry during travel and things of that nature.

I purchase this silver mother of pearl accented business card holder last year from Thing Remembered. I usually get comments on it whenever I pull it out because it’s not one of those boring pleather holders that come free with the box. *cringes at the thought*

I was browsing Urban Outfitters site today and found the Tattoo Etched ID Case and thought it would be a really cool item to have. The case would be great for nights out when you don’t want to carry your whole wallet. I hate slipping my ID, card and money into the inside zip of clutches because I’m always terrified that they’ll some how fall out when I reach in for my lip gloss. At $14.00, I will definitely be going sometime this week to pick it up. What do you use when you’re going out? There are a few things that I would absolutely love to own. I don’t know if I will ever acquire them, but I will covet them nonetheless. A Rolex, surprise surprise, just happens to be toward the top of my list. Specifically, a vintage Mens gold Rolex. Now when you talk Rolex, you talk money and when you talk vintage…well you know where I’m going with this.

This particular watch is circa 1988. The round 18k yellow gold case with 18k yellow gold fluted bezel surrounds the yellow gold dial that houses the date display with trademark Cyclops lens and day display. A pair of yellow gold and luminescent hands marks the perpetual automatic movement, which is shown through the applied diamond indicators as markers. Finishing this piece is the original Rolex 18k yellow gold Presidential bracelet and 18k yellow gold folding clasp. It’s just so presidential. *learns head to the right and sighs*

The Extras Big Ball Long Chain Necklace is really similar to a bib necklace. A little secret: I’m not particularly fond of them. *shrugs* Sue me. I’m still on the fence about this necklace but I’m leaning more towards liking it. Just looking at the picture of the necklace alone doesn’t really score any points, but once I saw it on the model, I saw it in a completely different light.

The black suede necklace, wrapped in a pewter chain with gray and black spheres, is excellent for a dressed down, casually cute look. If purchased, I could see wearing it a time or two – think work events. Maybe I will add it to the jewelry box with all of my other special occasion accessories. From week to week, I seem to accumulate an insane amount of change. I try to add it to my bank at home because I’ve convinced myself that one day I’ll make a trip Coinstar to “cash in”. After this weekend, I have about six dollars in change. I won’t even try to figure out how I acquired so many dimes, nickles, quarters and pennies, but my wallet can’t take it any more. In fact, I’ve had such a problem with carrying around loose change that the last wallet I had actually slit at the seam because of it.

The How-To Guide: Purchasing Previously Owned Designer Goods

I’ve never been able to get into the whole eBay “thing”. I know so many who purchase (and sell) via eBay without even thinking twice but I’m either too nervous or something so I’ve yet to give it a try. I’m also still trying to determine what the “or something” is, so bear with me. I’m very much into designer handbags like the next stylista and there’s a huge selection from which to choose on eBay. My concern has always been whether the bag is authentic or not because I could only image how irate I’d become if I spent money on something that was described as authentic to find out that it was not.

Rather than shop on eBay, I think I’m going to give Yoogi’s Closet a whirl. Yoogi’s takes shopping and authenticity seriously, so you’re guarenteed to only find authentic items on the site. They even have Lucky mag vouching for them, so you’re in good hands. You have your pick from a fabulous array of handbags, shoes and jewelry, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you like.

So, I really want to hear from you all on this topic. Are you willing to take a chance and buy a designer good via eBay or do you stick to actual retail stores? Would you consider giving a site like Yoogi’s Closet a chance? Be sure to comment as I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I recently started following @CoccoandBreezy on Twitter and came across their website. These high-style, designing twins make some seriously fierce eyewear. Am I the only one who feels like you can’t tell me anything when rocking some fly sunglasses? LOL! Pieces from the Coco and Breezy collection of couture eyewear definitely aren’t your typical. I know what you’re thinking, the word “couture” usually scares me because I instantly think mucho dinero. You all know how I love big “Katherine Chancellor” rings (do any of you all watch The Young and The Restless?) so I had a bit of a field day when I hit up Kohl’s last night. I was actually in there not looking for anything in particular when I came across the Apt. 9 ring. Purple has been one of my signature colors of the season, so I instantly fell in love and had to buy it. It was regularly priced at $20, but if you shop Kohl’s you know that you never pay the sticker price for anything in the store…like ever. The ring was on sale for $14. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I spent the last week making purchases of a dress and accessories for a wedding I attended Saturday. After searching a few sites for the perfect black clutch, I decided to scope out the Belk near my house because they’re always having a sale and I was sure to find something. I actually didn’t make it until the store until Saturday afternoon (the wedding was at 5 pm), but I didn’t walk away empty handed. As my dress had a black lace overlay, I wanted a clutch that was simple and chic and I found just that. I can’t speak for anyone other than myself, but I love sunglasses. The only thing is that I down right refuse to spend any real amount of money on them. $100, not gonna happen. Truthfully, $50, not gonna happen. I like to stick in the $30 and less range for multiple reasons: I like to have several pairs of sunglasses each season and I usually manage to break them. I’d be devastated if I spent lots of money for that to happen. One way to spice up an inexpensive pair is to add a chain which is a really fun newish trend. My only gripe is that the sunglasses are not available via Karmaloop, at least not from what I can tell.

The chain is 16″ long and gold-plated with a metal Cheap Monday logo charm.

Let’s just say, if you’re not into Chrishbana, get into it. I’ve never come across a piece in the line that I haven’t completely fallen for. I’ve been searching for a rosary or cross and hadn’t quite found what I’d been looking for until now. After all, I refuse to purchase one of the horrible ones from those jewelry kiosks in the middle of the mall…I could never.

Eureka! Hot d*mn! I want this necklace! The Chrishabana Silver Opulence Necklace has me mesmerized right now. I know there’s nothing fancy-shmancy about it but I have to have it. It’s just a word on a basic chain, I know, I know, but it speaks to who I am. That person – one who just likes all sorts of cool, almost but not really one of a kind like pieces of jewelry.

A friend hipped me to Disney couture Jewelry more than a year ago. Before you frown and say Disney, check out the collection. We’re not talking about those “It’s a Small World” playing Mickey Mouse watches everyone had in the mid-90s. We’re talking completely fabulous, fashion forward pieces that are great for tweens, teens and young adults.

The three ring set is from the Kidada Jones Cinderella Collection. The rings are 14K gold plated with “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart makes” engraved and a pink heart on one ring, and pink and clear pave crystals on other rings. My only fear is that the gold plating would irritate my skin, but if I only wear the set every once and a while, maybe it won’t be so bad. So, what do you think?
