As much of a shopaholic I am, I’m an equally addicted beauty junkie (this is a newly acquired title). I’ve always been into minimal makeup but my collection (yes, collecting makeup is a hobby and an art) has grown by leaps and bounds in recent months. You all will begin to see more beauty-related posts here as well.

I take prepping for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales pretty serious. In an effort to organize my thoughts, plan purchases and estimate the damage I plan to do, I’ve creating a handy-dandy spreadsheet with some of the sales I’m most interested. This is by no means a comprehensive list of all of the great bargains over the coming days, but for you beauty addicts, this may help you plan your purchases.

Giving Thanks

It is in the spirit of the holiday season that I pause to say thanks to each of you, my readers. Over the last several months, my life has seen its share of ebbs and flows. Super stressful work days, mounting projects, personal dilemmas and such have pulled me in different directions which has undoubtedly pulled me away from one of the things I love most – writing and my blog. I’m working hard to find a balance of work and play and I can’t help but want to give my all to you all for your support. I am so thankful that in spite of my absence, I still have a great following (I check my analytics daily) and I know that somewhere, out there is this infinite world of cyberspace there are people who actually take time to visit my little space. Thank you all for that!

With Thanksgiving just a day away, I’m in a reflective mood. I am thankful for my family and friends, I thankful to be gainfully employed, I’m thankful to know that with each new day God grants me, I will have new experiences, I will grow, learn and mature. For me, I make it a point - routine even – to give thanks EVERY day for EVERY DAY that I am here. I hope that each of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving wrapped in love and good times with family and friends.

My blogging may continue to be a little sporadic for the remainder of the year (can you believe it’s nearly December?!), but with the start of the new year, you guys will see a new look, new content, new everything. I’ve got to get back to the basics of what excites me – and this is it!

The Shoe Box: Where the %&$^ Is My @Asos Order?

Nearly a year ago, I found a beloved online bouquet, headquartered across the pond, that I decided to try. Any of you who are avid online shoppers have probably heard and/or ordered from Asos as well. I can attest to the quality and value of each purchase I’ve made to date…well maybe not TO DATE as my latest order seems to be playing an obnoxious, irritating game of Where’s Waldo.

Let me give a little background on Asos for those who may be unfamiliar. As I mentioned the packages are shipped from the UK, which has never been a problem aside from the fact that you don’t receive any type of tracking information for your packages. Once an order is dispatched (shipped), customers receive an anticipated delivery range much like the range of time Comcast says they’re coming to your house. *side eye* Again, I’ve never had issue with receiving my packages as they’ve always come…until now.

Recently, maybe two or so months ago, Asos had the fabulous idea to launch Asos USA. I wasn’t sure what changes really took place because the only differences I noticed where that prices automatically appeared in dollars and American sizes were displayed instantly vs. having to click the little American flag in the top right corner of the screen. Free shipping was also applied to all orders. Who’s going to complain about free shipping, right?

Apparently, the biggest change has been that packages leave their facility but they haven’t been making it to their destination…period. As of today, my package (ordered 10/15/10) has yet to arrive. My order was to arrive on or before 10/27. I emailed and was advised the following:

I can see that your order was placed on the 10/15/2010 and we advise that orders usually take up to 8 working days to be delivered, so your parcel should arrive by 10/27/2010. **Note that I received this response on 10/31/10.**

To allow for any postal delays, we do ask that you allow an extra 8 working days for your delivery on top of the above timescale. In the unlikely event your order is not delivered by 11/08/2010 please let us know as we can then look into this and find the best resolution for you.

Per conversations I had on Twitter, I know of five, yes, five others who never received their orders. Two were issued refunds and the others are waiting like I am. Even worse, items wanted – like those I ordered – are sold out by the time its decided that your package is simply lost in the mail. Clearly, this is a problem that has plagued MANY US shoppers. Don’t believe me? Check out the Asos’s customer care Twitter. Last night, I was advised to wait until the 11/11. Umm, that’s three more days on top of the eight as advised in my email.

I have just two questions: 1) If packages are getting “lost in transit”, where in the world are they ending up? I mean, seriously. 2) Where in the H*LL is my package?

I will keep you all updated on this saga. I have decided that this will be my last order from Asos for a while.

This video truly warmed my soul when I saw it retweeted on Twitter. I’ll be the first to say I’ve found some good buys at Ross. Though primarily limited to home decor, I have found cute summer tops or dresses that I know I’ll only wear for one season. It doesn’t matter if you spend $10 or $100, it’s all about finding your personal style.

Chocolate Delight: Bathroom Decor Edition

All who know me know that I have a slight obsession with all things home decor. One thing I enjoy quite a bit is changing out my bathroom decor each season. Yes, you read it right, I do it seasonably. After all, I couldn’t very well have a white eyelet shower curtain hanging up in the middle of January.

I thought I’d give you all a glimpse of the theme for Fall. I opted for chocolate and rust…do those colors not screen autumn? Excuse the wobbliness of the video. I didn’t initially plan to post it on my blog. but I figured, why not. Be sure to leave a comment letting me know what you think of the theme.

Falling Back Into the Swing Of Things

Happy first day of Fall – although the weather didn’t get the memo since it’s 96 degrees. I know, I know what you’re thinking? Where in the @#%& has this chick, this so-proclaimed fashion maven been for the last TWO months. I have literally been swamped with projects and not all too inspired, fashionably speaking, so I took some time to recharge my battery. I promised myself long ago that my focus would be on quality not quantity of posts. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype of posting for the sake of hits, ad revenue or “shine” but I won’t allow myself to fall into that trap. I’ll only post when I’m inspired to do so. If that means only once or twice a day, then so be it. Surely, my ride or die readers understand.

Besides, wouldn’t you much rather read me rave about a jacket I’m completely head over heels in love with versus some “I caught these shoes on sale and they’re so just ok, but I’ll post them anyway because I need one more post for the day”? Yeah, I thought so too. I’ve been shopping a little less and saving my coins more to purchase a nice camera. I plan to incorporate more active shots/posts of me actually wearing items vs. pictures taken from my Blackberry Torch (yes, boos I have the new Torch and love it!) camera of a top lying across the daybed in my home office.

So yes, I’m saying it now I’m BAAAACCCCCKKKKKK! I promise you all will see more regularly scheduled posts, more fresh content and I have some designer features and a BIG surprise that I’m super excited about in store. You didn’t actually think my time away hasn’t been in vain, did you?

In the interim, and by interim I mean, while I’m at work with no pictures of new things to post, take a look at the Pantone Fashion 2010 Color Report. I am SO happy to see purple as a staple once again. After all, those purple suede booties purchased last year…yep, never got around to wearing them. View The Report.

Accessorized: Charming Charlie Black and Yellow Dome Ring & Gold-Toned Rhinestone Ring

As if I even need to say it for the 100th time, I am an accessories maven. I simply can’t get enough rings, bracelets and necklaces, hence the organization issues I have, but I digress. Over the weekend, I visited Charming Charlie, which is by far one of the best places to shop for incredibly affordable pieces. I got hip to Charming Charlie about four years ago while visiting Houston – the company was founded there – and was over the moon once they started expanded and made their way to Alabama. The company is actually in 15 states now and still growing so be on the lookout if there’s not one in your area.

I purchased two rings and spent exactly $25. Talk about a deal. I purchased a black and yellow dome ring ($9.97)and a gold-toned rhinestone ring ($12.97) as well. They’re both great additions to my collection and I’ve already worn my dome ring. I love them both. Shiny Things: Vaudeville Vivian Necklace

I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I last posted. Yes I’ve been shopping and yes I’ve found some great pieces, but I’ve grown increasing frustrated with not having a quality camera. I pretty much refuse to use my Blackberry because let’s face it, the picture quality just isn’t up to par and I’m two seconds from throwing my Nikon out of the car window while traveling 80 on I459. I’ve got to find some sort of happy medium in the interim though because not posting isn’t gong to cut it either. But I digress…

I checked out Lulu’s today and saw a piece that I pretty much have to have. The Vaudeville Vivian Necklace would be great paired with a basic tee and whatever bottom you choose. One of the reasons I have that whole jewelry organization problem is because I can’t seem to stop purchasing things. I honestly can’t get enough of necklaces, bracelets and rings. You won’t see me post earrings often because I’m pretty plain Jane in that department – I’ve worn diamond studs for nearly 10 years. Occasionally, I’ll wear something different when going out, but my studs are pretty much my staple.

I only recently – say three weeks ago – discovered JC Penney. I honestly have never even considered shopping there, so imagine my surprise when I found a few great items. I later had a conversation with the BFF to realize that I’d indeed been “sleeping on” JCP because she already knew that they carried some great finds. I was prompted to go after visiting someone’s fashion blog (I should have bookmarked the blog because I loved it) who featured a piece they’d purchased. I picked up three pieces over the weekend that were all pretty well priced.

Operation Organization: What Works For You?

On Saturday, I had a conversation with one of my tweeps (Twitter friends for those of you who still refuse to join) about how to organize accessories. I have honestly been trying to tackle this feat for years, but still don’t have a great solution.Part of the problem is that I just haven’t been ready and willing to fork over nearly $400 for one of the really big, nice jewelry armoires. Honestly, I knew my armoire was too small while I was in the store purchasing it, but it was on sale so I figured I could “make it work”. I purchased it about 3 years ago for around $50 from Target when the one I really needed, also on sale, was about $75. I get mad at myself every time I think about it. I should have just gone with what was going to work, not what was cheapest.

As you can imagine, my drawers are to capacity and I even have an overflow storage box (wicker box shown) and I still need more room.

My tweep purchased these hanging organization bags, which I’ve thought about using before, but in lies another problem: where are you going to hang multiple bags?

Berry Bloggin’: Fashion On The Fly

My resident shoe maven @Candee702 has done it again. We talked about these shoes a week or so ago and course she ordered them. Sometimes, I seriously live vicariously through her when it comes to shoes because unfortunately, one of our favorite labels, Report Signature, doesn’t come in my size.

The Report Signature Adrian Platform Pumps have a rounded peep toe and leather lining. They feature a python printed leather sole ¾” front platform and 4 ¾” python printed heel. I think the heel is what really makes them special.

Intuition PLUS Style: Torrid Black Ruffle-Front Knit Sleeveless Romper

I’ve been wild about rompers all year and couldn’t wait for the weather to warm. This is the second romper I’ve purchased thus far and I fell in love with it all over again once it arrived. It fits great and I’ll probably wear it out tomorrow night for drinks. Sidebar: I seriously need to get a new digital camera so that I can start posting pictures in outfits. I ended up gifting the one I bought on Black Friday so I’m suck with my Nikon Coolpix that I absolutely hate.

The sleeveless romper has ruffles on the pintucked front, shoulders and has a button-front closure with a Mandarin collar. It has a sash belt and is 23″ long from shoulder to elastic waist with a 5″ inseam. I think it’s adorable. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think. Perfectly Polished: Pretty In Pink With a Little Edge

When I get my nails done recently, I had no clue as to what color I’d choose. Some weeks I know exactly what I want, others, not so much. I was somewhat in a pink/peach mood and after a conversation with one of my favorite nail technicians in the salon, I opted for a China Glaze pink – forgive me because I can’t recall the name of the hue. She suggested I use black for my “accent nails” so this is what we came up with.

I used to be one of those people who would never get designs because I thought it was ghetto but I’m over that now. I’ve decided that it’s all about the nail length. If I had “claws” then I think it would come across a lot differently than it does.

Going Through Changes: I Adore Shoes Coin Purse

For the past few weeks, I’d been in search of either a new wallet (mine was bursting at the seems from the ridiculous amount of change I carry) or a coin purse. I didn’t really exactly how challenging it is to find coin purses. My grandmother carried on for years but I started to think they’d become virtually extinct or I just wasn’t looking in the right place.

During one of two retail therapy sessions this past weekend, I visited one of my favorite little shops, Francesca’s Collection. I was certain I’d find one there and I did just that. They actually had quite a few different styles – from those more “organic” looking to flashy sequined ones – but as soon as I found the one with shoes, I knew it was there just for me. Plus, it was only one…and it was on clearance. It was as if it were there waiting just for me.

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you know that I adore accessories to no end. I seriously buy at least one new item per week (hence the jewelry armoire issue I have). I love bold pieces, long necklaces and I love to mix and match textures. Today, I was in a Aztec mood. I purchase a large potion of my jewelry from Belk as pieces are typically well crafted and last for years. They have seasonal clearance sales and mark the accessories down ridiculously low so I rack up throughout the year.

I love all designers but Jimmy Choo is by far one of my favorite, I rarely see a shoe that doesn’t grab my attention. Unfortunately, they’re all very expensive so I put them into my Fantasy Files. The Jimmy Choo Darcy Sandals are no different. The metallic pony caged in sandal sits 4 1/2″ high with cut out detail that makes them show stoppers. Being priced at $1,115.00 also makes them a pocket breaker. I would love to turn some heads rocking them, but I’ll have to save a lot of pennies, nickels and dimes so they’re forever be in my Fantasy File. Are you feeling this Fantasy File? A few months ago, I completely fell in love with owl jewelry. I kept telling myself to buy a ring, but I never got around to it until a week or so ago. To my surprise, I’m not alone in my love for this, what some would call “odd” trend. My blogging friend, @Odara112 mentioned that she’d purchased one as well. I was totally jealous when she said she found it on clearance at Target. Excusssssssse me, but how did I miss that sale?! She doesn’t know if yet, but since I’ve been unable to find it at my neighborhood Target, she’ll be sending me hers. Ha! If she refuses to give me hers, I will be checking out Lulu‘s to find one similar.

The Scent Of A Woman: Did Your Signature Fragrance Make The Year’s “Best” List?

I was thumbing through one of my fashion magazines over the weekend (I can’t remember which one because I subscribe to quite a few including Lucky, Allure and Glamour), and ran across a list of some of the year’s “best” fragrances. I recently learned that this “best in show” idea is much larger than I initially realized. Every year, The Fragrance Foundation, celebrates the FiFi Awards which are essentially the “Oscars” of the fragrance world. Click here to learn more about the awards.

Bag Attitude: Marc Ecko Charisma Rounded Hobo

I’ve recently taken a liking to discount retailers like TJ Maxx and Ross. I’ve found a few bags as of late for TJ Maxx and Ross is great for home/kitchen items. I purchased the Marc Ecko Charisma Rounded Hobo Friday evening. I actually entered the store with one thing in mind and came out with the bag instead…that seems to happen to me alot for whatever reason. As I didn’t know the style name, I Goodle’d Maro Ekco and to my surprise, I found the exact bag on Macy’s site – for $79.00. Learning that I saved $40 makes me happy!

The bag features a removable shoulder strap (I kept the strap on as I figured it added another element of interest) =, whipstitch and stud detailing; double E tag and two organization pockets. The color is actually closer to a tomato red than what the pictures illustrate.

Fantasy Files: Oh Donna Karan, How Sweet It Is

How ridiculously killer are these pairs of Donna Karan shoes? I somehow missed when Joe Zee (Creative Director of ELLE Magazine for those of you who thought, “who?”) twitpic’d them about a week ago, but discovered them today and instantly began searching high and low for more information on each. When I think about about, I know they’re probably terribly expensive, so I guess it isn’t too important after all.

If I were the totally fabulous 2010 Cinderella minus having to do all of that ridiculous cleaning and scrubbing on my hands and knees, the Le Silla Jewel D’orsey Pumps are exactly what I’d wearing. The peep toe shoes, priced at a whopping $2,795.00 feature sky high heel and are adorned with breathtaking jewels. I’m nowhere near a point of finding an acceptable reason to spend that amount of money of shoes, so I’ll continue to admire them from afar. Fantasy Files: Broussard Dulce Moccasin Wedges

As soon as I saw the Broussard Dulce Moccasin Wedges, I felt all warm and fuzzy inside. How can you not love them? The wedges are available in black, brown and neutral, but by far the brown are my absolute favorite.

The wedge is taking the “prep” looking to a completley sophisticated, high style level. The only downside to the purchase is the fact that I find it virtually impossible to wear close-toe shoes before September and I just couldn’t imagine having to wait months before getting the opportunity to wear them. *thinking* They are far more appropriate for Fall, so maybe the wait wouldn’t be so bad after all.

The Music Life tee is what I planned to wear to the artist showcase. I picked it up for $16.99 from one of those stores like Rainbow or something when I’m looking for one-time wear items for a specific event. I went to an artist showcase and I initially planned to go for an eclectic, funky fresh vibe. I found out it was another one of those “grown and sexy” events, so I ended up changing my wardrobe completely. Sidebar: Can we please be more creative and use terms other than grown and sexy? It’s so 2000 and late.

I went for an all black everything look and opted for all black and gold jewelry. I already had a few of these gems, but I picked up the watch, right hand ring and cuff bracelet from one of my favorite places…Target no less. I ended up taking the watch back the next day because the clasp never worked (I had to rig it for that night) and besides, I really want a nice, more expensive version. As you all know, I’ve been getting bolder and bolder as the weather warms. I’m pretty much up for any hue on my nails, excluding the really obnoxious neon (non)options. Oh, and I’m also not a fan of long nails, if you haven’t noticed by now. I prefer to keep my nails short and well groomed. I opted for a pinkish purple China Glaze color (I forgot to write down the name of it) and coupled it with my own Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow. My nail designer, Christine, has been dying to put “rhinestones” on my nails for some time and since there were some that matched the polish, I let her do her thing.

*runs in pumping fists* I’m baaaccccck. I told you all that life has been throwing me project after project so I’ve been staying incredibly busy as of late, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. In the midst of everything that’s been going on, I haven’t been able to put 100% into my blog lately and I’ve got to do better…no excuses.

Last night, I decided to do what I’d been putting off for the last few weeks…purchasing a new swimsuit. Let’s be honest, how many of us really like to try on swimsuits, under the retched blinking florescent lights in fitting rooms. I swallowed my pride, sucked in my stomach and just went full throttle.I’ll probably purchase one or two more, but I needed something to at least get me started. I went with a black retro suit that has ruched in the front that is INCREDIBLY flattering. The straps cross in the back for a little extra umph. May I just go on record and say this model does absolutely nothing for the suit. *sighs*

You know the third finger left hand weight. I’m all about cute, kind of funky tees for Spring and Summer. I even purchased two really cute ones from Target a week or two ago. When I saw the Nice Stems Top, I thought it was absolutely adorable. It would be great paired with jeans or shorts for the weekend. The tee features side rouching so if you’re not particular fond of it, steer clear. I have a love/hate relationship with rouching, but I’ve learned that you always have to try things on.

I get such a military feel from the Giuseppe Zanotti Cross Over Studded Sandals. The rounded open toe sandals feature wide canvas straps with flat silver metal studs all over and a leather stitched upper with zip closure. I’m sure I’ve said it before but Giuseppe Zanotti is one of my faaavvvvorite designers. Maybe one day, I’ll be willing to fork over the coins to get a pair of my very own. Until then, I’ll admire them on websites, magazines and celebrities feet who they’re given to enough though they can afford to…*takes deep breath* I digress.

Life has been ridiculously busy for me so I had to take some time out from blogging. I’m not using taking on more projects than I probably should at any one time as an excuse, but it is the explanation of why I haven’t given 100% to my baby over the last few weeks. I’ve missed blogging about the things I’ve found out shopping, giving you the inside peak on items that will keep you on trend and just the overall joy I get from knowing that people actually look forward to reading my blog daily. I guess I’ve taken a Spring Break of sorts, but now I’m back. I will continue to deliver the same level of content as I always have, but I’ll be throwing some new things into the mix like giveaways, Outfits of the Week (or as often as I can get someone to serve as my personal photographer) and Men’s fashion.

I’ve looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, so here we gooooooooo…

If the Versace Python Cutout Platform Boots look familiar to you, you may have seem them Wednesday on everyone’s favorite new Barbie gone oh so wrong rap gimmick artist, Nicki Minaj. She wore them during a visit to BETs 106 & Park on Wednesday.

Quite possibly the illest flat boots/sandals I’ve seen, the Sigerson Morrison Tall Bracelet Boots make the way to the top of my list of reasons why flat sandals are ok. I’ve pretty much always been a heels-kind-of girl, but I’d be lying if I said I weren’t loving the fact that diversity is king – or queen – now.

The boots feature silver hardware embellished elastic straps and a full back zip that supports approximate 16 3/4″ shaft. Something tells me if you have any type of calf muscles, you might just have a difficult time wearing them. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think.

The sexy pumps have 4 1/2″ heel and 1/2″ platform, They’d would look great paired with just about everything. Am I crazy for not really wanting them now that they’re on sale? One of these days I will own a pair of Christian Louboutin. I just have to, really I do. Until that day comes, I’ll wear them in my dreams on my date with Trey Songz. Hey, a girl can dream right? The Christian Louboutin Leopard Suede-Strap Slingbacks are another shoe I have to put on my when I get rich I’m buying those list. I know I can’t be the only one with a list like that or am I?
