The How-To Guide: How To Shop For Shoes

Posted by: Just C  :  Category: The How-To Guide

Lucky Mag always delivers when it comes to great how-to guides. Some of the points, like walking on a hard surface when trying on shoes was something I never thought about. When you do think about it, it makes perfect sense. Heels often feel a lot different and a lot less comfortable when you don’t have the soft cushion beneath.

I still refuse to agree with kitten heels though. I usually find myself pretty wobbly in them so I rather go “big” or simply stick to a flat. Kitten heels just make no sense to me. *shrugs*

In Transition: Blowfish Open Toe Booties

Posted by: Just C  :  Category: Sole Satisfaction

I find myself at a bit of a crossroad. I’m so excited that Spring is near, but then I realize that I have one too many pairs of boots that I have yet to wear. I think I went a little overboard shopping this Winter and I find myself with a pair of purple booties, a pair of chocolatey gray leather booties and about three pairs of pumps that I have yet to get around to wearing. I promised myself that over the next two weeks, I will wear everything at least once before it gets too warm.

Since we’re talking about boots, I thought the Blowfish Open Toe Booties would be a great transition pair. The vegan leather booties are also available in black and taupe but this nude is my favorite. FYI: Nude is so hot for Sprig 2010. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think.

Fashion Photography: Where Are The Women Of Color

Posted by: Just C  :  Category: Random Thoughts of An Artistic Mind, The Shoe Box

Things have been crazy for me the last few weeks that I have so been slipping on my posting. My apologies as I don’t mean to leave any of you all hanging. It’s actually a two fold issue that I have going on: I’ve been crazy busy and I haven’t been all too inspired by any one thing or things as of late. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a lover of all things art whether on a canvas, photography or performance.

I spent a little time looking at fashion photography this afternoon and it it did re-energize my battery a little. Take a looksie at a few images I uncovered that I found pretty beautiful. I will say this. I’m feeling some kind of way about the lack of women of cover when I did a search of fashion photography. Should I really have to do a narrowed search of “asian fashion photography” or “African American fashion photography” just to find what I’m looking for? Oh and let me just say that a search of “African American fashion photography” didn’t publish any real results. *sighs*

I’m the type of person who believes ALL cultures and nationalities are beautiful (anyone who knows me would vouch for me) so excuse me while I vent… :( Be sure to comment and express your thoughts on the lack of representation of women of color. I’m not just talking African American women, I mean all women of color.

The Oscars: Fashion Hits & Misfits

Posted by: Just C  :  Category: Celebrity Style

By no means do I plan to post a comprehensive list of looks from last night’s Oscars. If I feel inspired enough, maybe, just maybe, I’ll do a Fashion Hits & Misfits Part Duex. Until that time, here are a few looks that stood out to me on the red carpet.

Right now, Queen Latifah’s look was my favorite. She looked absolutely exquisite. Does this woman know how to look completley amazing when it’s red carpet time or what?

At first, I wasn’t sure about J Lo’s dress, but after seeing the red carpet pictures…get it girl! She is working that dress and I love it! *still trying to figure out why she was there considering the fact that she hasn’t had a hit since 2002’s Maid in Manhattan (2005 if you count Monster-In-Law)*
